Re: I feel degraded and punished by the system.
Yesterday at 9:30pm   Hello and welcome to the forums.

Firstly, it may not be a good idea to use your real name as your user name - have you done this?  Admin can help if you want to change this.

I am so sorry to hear of your plight. The system fails lots of people and I know of lots of people who don't work because they can't afford to.  Until the system changes, many people are stuck like you.  You have my deepest sympathy.  I understand your need to 'let off steam' at the gym but selling your body to do this?  Or is the gym free? If you're paying for the gym, stop now - there are alternatives to this which don't cost money. You must be in a very bad place right now to be contemplating returning to this - I'm not going to judge you and I sense it's a last resort, but I urge you to think about it - apart from anything else it's seriously dangerous doing this.

Do you have debts?  Is debt contributing to your welfare problems?  I'm no expert on benefits or welfare but other regulars are.  Please do hang around, you've found a great site with people sharing their problems and helping others. You won't regret finding us.

My heart goes out to you, please don't make any rash decisions until you've had other replies.  Good luck my friend.

im really sorry to hear what your going through at the moment, my partner and i are in similar circumstances where the jobcentre and social are concerned. my partner is not well and i bet when i want to get a job they will take what i earn from HIS income surport etc.

Selling your body is definatly not the route to take by any means because your putting yourself into alot of danger as confused said above. If you have alot of debt have you spoken to anyone like welfare rights or citizens advice?

Stick around, one of the experts will be along soon, but please keep your chin up and remember you can over come this it wont last forever.

I feel totally outraged that you people think I'm some kind of troll. I've come here to ask for advice. Thankyou to the first two posters who have gave me some advice.

What I wrote is 100% legitimate. I live in the UK. I've just recently gievn up my job after reading that I would be better off on benefits. I live near a whole streetof gay clubs. I'm gay myself but I don't like using my body this way. I'm forced to do so because I can't make ends meet.

Look. Thanks for your advice. But I choose to sell myself to get money to get myself a better life. I had no choice. I'm not the only one that does it. My friends in Manchester do it. My problem is that I don't like doing it; I feel disgusted but I had to do it to stop myself from buckling under the poverty I was feeling.

Yes, but mostly because when I took the part time job (thinking it would give me some relief from the poverty) I was told by the Job Centre I didn't need to tell the Housing Benefit Association as they would do it for me. After three months I get a letter from my landlord saying that I had a 500 debt on my rent because I didn't tell them I was working at the time. I'm paying that off slowly. But I cannot afford to pay for water rates, gas and tv licence. I'm struggling on this 124 per fortnight JSA. So in order to get me some new clothes, which I need desparately, I took a cleaning job and I was so happy leaving selling myself at gay clubs. This week I got a letter from the Job Center telling me I won't be getting JSA. I only get 40 per week on my part time job. Their advice was to quit my job  -for National Insurance sake - and go back to claiming full JSA.

I don't have massive debt problems like most people but I do feel so poor. My only chance of escape is to find a good job that pays well. I need careers advice but no-one is interested.

It helps me keep a little bit more sane. I have depression and have stopped taking Mirtazapine in March.
